Training - 3 StoriesTraining Story #1: A division of a Fortune 500 company saw lagging employee satisfaction metrics reinforce the recognized need for employee development in negotiation and internal consulting skills. Partnering with another training company, TQD was engaged to design, develop and facilitate an extended program held in three phases over 10 months for 70 people. Results: The VP for the group found payback occured before the program ended. Another VP stated: "By connecting a formal education process to what we rather than just an academic exercise has made a big impact. It's been terrific, really." A third VP identified more professional behavior, much greater preparation and improvement such that numerous staff members could now handle tough negotiations on their own rather than being coached and hand-held through the process. Finally, training content was so well accepted that concepts became integrated into how attendees both saw their positions and the industry.
Training Story #2 -A client had problems with Sales and Operations not working well together. Using a TQD proprietary meeting process called Mutual Expectations, a single 4-hour meeting provided a format of self-discovery and self-commitment towards what each group wanted. When people replace their perceptions of what they think others want with what is really needed, rapid progress and breakthroughs can occur.
Training Story # 3- A Corporate University needed an instructor for an existing course called "Measuring Continuous Improvement". The original effort was so dry that local doctors were prescribing it for insomnia patients. Results: TQD redesigned the material such that the course stimulated engineers and managers to understand how to measure any situation, no matter how qualitative, and to build consensus as a key to using more effective metrics. The result was more effective team and individual effort through improved feedback from measurement.
